The Milan Series presents a photographic exploration of the city captured in 2016 using my Fuji X100, tracing its layered identity as both a historic center and a global capital of finance, fashion, and design. The first group of images focuses on downtown Milan, where streets, marketplaces, and modernist buildings coexist within a dense and vibrant urban fabric. Here, the city reveals its everyday rhythms—people moving through busy thoroughfares, commerce unfolding at multiple scales, and architecture reflecting Milan’s evolution into Italy’s economic powerhouse.

The second section turns to the Duomo and Galleria, where the city’s historic core is defined by a sense of grandeur and spectacle. The Duomo’s intricate Gothic excess rises above the square, while the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II offers a luxurious, enclosed environment animated by crowds and the steady circulation of beautifully dressed pedestrians. The final group of images captures the Fondazione Prada, designed by Rem Koolhaas, where contemporary architecture and art converge in an exquisitely composed complex. A tower clad in gold leaf stands alongside structures of steel and glass, creating a striking juxtaposition of materials and forms that reflects Milan’s ongoing engagement with innovation and cultural production. Together, these three perspectives present Milan as a city where history, spectacle, and modernity intersect in a dynamic and ever-evolving urban landscape.
