The Najd Archives
Najd, 2024 — A Photographic Exploration
In 2024, I undertook a photographic journey across Saudi Arabia’s Najd region—its geographic and cultural heartland—documenting a landscape in the midst of profound transformation. Beginning in Riyadh, the trip continued north by train to Buraydah in the Qaseem region, and onward to the mountainous city of Ha’il. Along the way, I recorded buildings, streets, parks, and landmarks, but also the quieter textures of everyday life: markets animated by migrant communities, overlooked public spaces, and historic districts standing on the threshold of disappearance.
Captured using the high-end digital medium format Fuji GFX 100S, these images emphasize clarity, depth, and detail, allowing the subtle character of Najd’s urban and rural environments to emerge. More than a visual survey, this series forms a unique record of a region, its built environment, and its people—documenting moments of continuity and change before they fade.
